A couple of years ago, if you had told me that Figma would one day be acquired by Adobe, I would have laughed at you. But that's exactly what happened today, as Adobe announced that it was acquiring Figma for a cool $20 billion.
Figma is a cloud-based vector graphics editor that has been gaining popularity in recent years for its ease of use and collaborative features. Adobe is no doubt hoping that Figma will help them regain some of the market share that they have lost to other Creative Cloud tools in recent years.
This is a huge win for Figma, which was only founded in 2012. It's a clear vote of confidence in the company's future, and I'm sure the Figma team is feeling pretty good about things right now.
It'll be interesting to see how Adobe integrates Figma into its existing suite of tools. One thing's for sure: the world of design just got a lot more interesting.
